Known for his steamy smut, Crow Gray changes things up with the action-packed Welcome to Diablo Vista. There's the Mexican Drug Cartel, a crazy biker gang, the Japanese Yakuza, seedy men, hot women, and an even hotter man at the center of all the action. Axl Dane's life as a PI definitely got very interesting in this first volume of the Axl Dane series. I couldn't stop reading, it was so fast paced and the interlocking stories of the characters kept me guessing. I definitely found there to be a perfect balance between the intense, action filled moments and the sensual, erotic quickies we were given. The characters are all intriguing, especially Axl, with different backgrounds we only get glimpses of and unique personalities that really shine during their bullet riddled adventure. We even get a hint of romance that I cannot wait to see play out in future books. As Axl takes on three of the scariest groups around, he definitely got more than he agreed to with Trista Morales and her secretive past.I am familiar with Crow Gray's writing style, so I am happy to say this book was just as fast paced as his usual sexy romps, however I could've done for a bit more on the emotional side when it came to Axl. It was easy to see how other characters tied together, but Axl's quick connection to the sexy Rosita left me wanting more. I think longtime fans will be thankful for the still-developing story that is presented with Axl Dane, the man is mysterious enigma that Gray only touches the surface of. I know I am looking forward to more character development and adventures with the PI.
If you're looking for a book with a plot that's both volatile and sexy, Welcome to Diablo Vista is definitely it for you. Gray successfully weaves a complex tale in this short novel that will leave you wanting more of the hot Axl Dane.

Wow! HOT and entertaining!! I really enjoyed how this story kept me guessing! I love a story that keeps me wondering where it's going, not already imagining the ending! Don't get me wrong...we all love a happy ending! I just love the ride! The journey in this book is very different than anything I have previously read and I really liked that! The twists, turns and constant OMGs had me wanting more, needing more! I can't wait to read more stories from this author!!!

Okay so first off I have to say I love this cover, it is by far my favorite one of his.
Private investigator Axl Dane may seem unassuming at first. But he has definitely made a name for himself on both side of the track so to speak. Even with that kind of reputation, business has been a bit slow for him lately. That is until the trophy wife of a local drug lord Trista Morales saunters into his office with a sordid tale of blackmail.
What should’ve been a simple job for Axl turns into a whole lot more than he signed up for. This is one fast paced, action packed story full of lies, blackmail, and bloodshed. AND of course it wouldn’t be a Crow Gray book without plenty of hot sexy scenes.
Up until now a lot of Crow’s work has been of the short, hot dirty smut variety, which is not at all a bad thing. But I was pleased to see a lot more depth and development in both his characters and the story line. The way he was able to weave multiple characters, gangs, settings and story lines together to make one delicious book is great.
I did have a bit of an issue with the whole insta-love scenario. I’ve just never been a fan of it. I would’ve liked to see more development in that specific relationship especially since this is only book one. It makes me question how that relationship will be able to last in the coming series.

Finally! As much as I love reading Crow Gray's epic erotic, sex-fueled short stories, I was eager to read something with more substance and just a little less sex (don't get me wrong there is plenty).
There is a lot that goes on in Welcome To Diablo Vista (Axl Dane #1). There are several groups of bad guys in this book. Bikers, cartels, pimps and drug lords. It becomes a matter of survival of the smartest. Smart guys are hard to find in this book. The tangled webs woven through this book eventually come to a head and we can start body count. Who gets out of this action packed novel alive?
The book had me going from beginning to end. It is a fast paced read. It kept me entertained from beginning to end. I loved the outcome at the end. I have always been a fan of every kind of bad guy in Diablo Vista. I love how they are all portrayed, especially Ed Sharp. He is the consummate scumbag.
Crow Gray now has a few books under his belt. I see growth with every book he writes. I am excited to see who, if anyone, from book 1 continues on with him in Volume Two.
I highly recommend Welcome to Diablo Vista. I couldn't get enough of Axl Dane.
